  1. for me, that first book that sparked it all was spilling open as well! i had been reading SARK's books that which really inspired me, but it was Sabrina's book that really opened my eyes (and i can barely believe that i'll get to take a workshop with her in the spring)!

reading Christine Mason Miller's book Ordinary Sparkling Moments a year or so ago felt really reminiscent of that moment i found Spilling Open! if you haven't checked that one out yet, please do!

  2. For me it was the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. When we left on our year-long trip in 2001, I was hoping to explore whatever creative instincts I might have, but I had no idea what they were, having only been a teacher up to that point. My sister gave me that book before we left and it really changed my life! It was the first time I had ever even considered using the word "artist" in relation to myself. I did some of the exercises and started writing and taking photos and thinking about creating multi-media shows and, well, everything evolved from that point!

I have since read a lot of books but not either of the 2 you mention so I will have to check them out. Can't wait to see what everyone else says. It's a great question!!! Thanks for asking!!!

  3. WHEEEEEEEEE!
that was a super fun ride.
    thank you.
i laughed out loud when you said..."hi chrissy"
i wanted to rewind it and hear it again and again and again.
do you even know how dang beautiful you are?
    sheeez louise girl.
    so.
    inspiring book.
    hmmmmm.
i would have to say that it was my little "a friend is someone who likes you" book by joan walsh anglund, when i was a tiny girl. i would sit and try copy the darling folk in her book for hours and hours. i.ve been drawing ever since.
    BUT.
that said, for sure "taking flight" by the talented kelly rae helped send my journey in a different direction.
    KELLY BURKEY rocks.
    i want one!
    love you ever so much.
    HUGE HUGS this wednesday.

  7. I love you video darling! I'll definitely check out the book you recommended. My favorite books of all times are "The Little Prince and The Alchemist" I know they may not be about art, but they inspired me in a different way. Your pendant is so cute, I love Kelly's work!
Have a sweet day muy dear!
    xoxo

  10. you are beautiful. I love seeing your smiling face and hearing your voice! It makes me smile from ear to ear.

The first book that I read that inspired me was Succulent Wild Women by SARK. It opened my eyes up to this whole new world.

Some of the other books that have spoken to the creative voice inside of me is:
*every other book written by SARK ~ I just adore her
    * Ordinary Sparkling Moments by Christine Mason Miller
    * Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts

There are so many more but they are in my car because I was taking them with me to my little retreat. I will have to send you another comment once I venture out in the snow to get them.

    I adore you beautiful!!
